Summary: MGM Institute of Health Sciences plays an important role in conservation of Environment by various ways….it consist of Rain water conservation, use of solar power, Tree plantation in the various adopted village of MGMIHS, avoid use of Plastics in the campus as minimum as possible and also by organizing various events on the occasion of celebration of Environment related days. The plastic free bag making competition was organized and 2 students from MGMIUDPO participated where they made bags using cloth and other biodegradable materials that we use in day to day life. Both of them were felicitated by certificates.

Preamble:: Dr. B.R. Ambedkar has been an outstanding and multifaceted personality of India. He was a great academician, a research scholar, an economist, a political scientist, a philosopher, and a humanitarian. He was the first man who understood the necessity for a democratic system in India and analyzed the social, economic and political system of India in relation to other countries.

Objective:To spread awareness about the role & sacrifices of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar for the nation.

Summary:

The activity was conducted under National Service Scheme of MGMIHS. As a part of MGMIHS, Students of MGMIUDPO participated actively in this event.

The event was started with small introductory speech about struggle, sacrifices and role of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar in formation of Constitution of India which was given by Dr. Uttara Deshmukh (P&O), H.O.D, MGMIUDPO. Later a Quiz competition organized among students in 4 groups. In the quiz competition Dr. Uttara Deshmukh asked about questions related to Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar . Students enjoyed the Quiz event as a knowledgeable activity for them.

Preamble::In these days and ages, self-defense is one of the utmost important thing for all. It is not just helpful for any uncertain situation and boost self-confidence.

Objective:To demonstrate practical Skills of Self Defense to overcome any type of Dangerous situations.

Summary:

The activity was conducted under National Service Scheme of MGMIUDPO on the occasion of World Health day-2022.

Department invited Mr. Amit A. Makhare (3rd Dan Black Belt, National Judge & Referee (KIO) & Mr. Sumit Makhare (National level Karate Champion). They demonstrated various types of Self Defense Training to all Students & faculty of MGMIUDPO Also gave training to each students one by one which is actually benefitted to all students to overcome any type of dangerous situation in day today life.

Lastly he shared various legal aspects of rules and Regulations of Indian Penal Code to all students which was a necessary knowledge for all.

Overall the Training Session was an Eye-opening event for all faculty and students of MGMIUDPO.

Preamble:: Need of gender sensitization is to create awareness among the working professionals & students about the importance of gender sensitivity in organization. Without being sensitive to the needs of a particular gender, an individual may refrain from understanding the opposite gender.

Objective:To Know about the Gender equity & create awareness about it among all students so they will form a good society in future by respecting all.

Summary:

The Program started with the brief introduction about the “Gender Equity Program” which is given by Dr. Uttara Deshmukh, I./C Principal of MGMIUDPO. She has introduced some points which we never thought of being important in these aspects. She told how to fairly treat men and women according to their respective needs. This include equal treatment that is different but which is considered equivalent in terms of rights, benefits, obligations and opportunities.

After that the program, continued with the presentation given by the students of III year Students Mr. Sachin Kawankar & Ms. Yashashree Gawde and IV year student Ms. Rasika Gurav on “Gender Sensitization”. The Programme was beneficial for the students, faculty and the whole team of MGMIUDPO known about Gender Sensitization with full Interest.

Summary:

This event was organized as NSS Activity, under NSS Unit of MGMIUDPO, Kamothe, Navi Mumbai.

A small speech about importance of the day was given by Dr. Uttara Deshmukh (P&O), Principal, MGMUDPO, Kamothe, Navi Mumbai. She also revealed the theme of the event.

The event was processed with elocution by all the Male faculty and students on the “Importance of women in life”, in which they explained how women in their life are contributing in various ways with various roles of mother, sister, wife, daughter, friend etc. Everyone shared their experiences with Women and how they influenced in significant way. Many of them sang songs and poems for women showing importance of them.

The event was ended by cake cutting specially brought for Women’s Day by all male staff and students in the institute.

Preamble:: Marathi language one of the oldest language of the India also one of the versatile language being used from ancient times and it has third largest number of speakers in India. The Marathi language has some of the oldest literature of all modern Indo-Aryan languages dating from about 900 AD.

Objective:To create awareness about Great Marathi Language & celebrate the birth anniversary of Great Marathi Poet Kusumagraj.

Summary:

Institutional Level :

The event was organized (at institutional level) under NSS Activity, under NSS Unit MGMIUDPO, Kamothe, Navi Mumbai. The day started with a speech by Dr. Uttara Deshmukh (P&O), Principle, MGMIUDPO, Kamothe, Navi Mumbai. Then was enlightened by student’s participation in “Poetry Competition – Importance of health in life. ” Among the participations for student category winner was Mr. Shivam Pandey (IV year BPO) and among the faculties winner was Dr. Uttara Deshmukh (P&O). The event ended by thanks giving to all students and faculty by Dr.Pratiksha Shelar (P&O) from Community Medicine Department for making the event successful one.

University Level :

The celebration of Marathi Rajbhasha Divas at university level marked by the lamp lightening session by dignitaries followed by Ganesh Vandana. As per the notification of university regarding Inter-college, Role Play Competition on this occasion, students of MGMIUDPO participated enthusiastically. Among the several departments participated TEAM – NEW LEAP (MGMIUDPO) which defines the struggle of an individual after amputation of Lower limb grabbed the second place representing the institute. The event ended by thanks giving to all students and faculty by Dr. Sayali from Community Medicine Department for making the event successful one.

The observance of the Day aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of person with disabilities

Summary:

MGM Department of Prosthetics & Orthotics in association with MGM Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and MGM School of Physiotherapy organized the ‘International Day of Person with Disabilities 2021’ on 3rd December 2021. This year the theme was ‘Leadership and participation of persons with Disabilities towards an inclusive, accessible and sustainable post COVID 19 world.’

The event started with lamp lightning and inauguration of program in presence of all dignitaries, organizers and amputee patients by MGM Institute’s University Department of Prosthesis and Orthotics, MGM Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and MGM School of Physiotherapy, It was followed by walkathon activity for people with amputation. Post walkathon, the event was continued at the 2nd floor auditorium in MGM hospital.

Introduction to the day of persons with disabilities was started with a welcome speech and felicitation of guest by Dr. Richa from PMR department. It was followed with a lecture on ‘Introduction of Physical Medicine and rehabilitation’ by Dr. Anil Khandekar (Prof. and HOD, PMR department). This was followed by a guest on lecture on ‘Stroke: a cause of disability, motor recovery in stroke’ was delivered by Dr. Vinay Goyal (Associate Prof, AIIPMR). A lecture on ‘Rehabilitation after stroke’ was conducted by Dr. Manisha Shambharkar (Sr. Resident, PMR department). Dr. Richa also conducted a short quiz in between the sessions in order to engage the participants. This was followed by a session on ‘Rehabilitation after Amputation” by Dr. Rucha Pradhan (PT, Assistant Professor Physiotherapy, MGMSOPNM).

A small skit was performed by physiotherapy students on ‘Leadership and participation of persons with Disabilities towards an inclusive, accessible and sustainable post COVID 19 world.’ An eye opener skit was portrayed by Interns and MPTs of MGM School of Physiotherapy. The skit highlighted on visual, audio, mental and physical disability. The obstacles faced by them in everyday activities were displayed through the skit. Society's perception and ability to change it was beautifully presented with the theme of 'Inclusiveness and Accessibility'. The use of life sized props made the play even more attractive. The takeaway message was indeed something to reflect upon.

This was followed by a lecture on ‘Government schemes for disabled person and awareness about the disability certificates’ by Dr. Uttara Deshmukh (HOD, Prosthetics and orthotics) and a guest lecture on ‘Stress Management’ by Dr. Swapnil Bhopi (Clinical Psychologist, MGM Medical college Navi Mumbai.

The event continued with a fancy dress competition for children with Cerebral Palsy and CTEV. This was followed by singing performances by these patients.

All participants were awarded by trophies, gifts and certificates. The guest speaker was awarded by Khadi Shawl which is specially manufactured by MGM and a coconut along with a green plant and certificate. Rest of all speakers were awarded with only green plants and certificates.

The session was concluded by A vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Pratiksha Shelar (Faculty from MGMIUDPO).

The event ended with special lunch for all the participants.

Preamble: MGM Institute of Health Sciences is a one of the top Health science institute of India. The trustees have a target that by the help of department of Prosthetics & Orthotics they rehabilitate all Divyangjan of Maharashtra. For which disability selection survey is very important. The Department of Prosthetics & Orthotics conducted a survey of the Adopted villages of MGMIHS.

Summary:MGMIUDPO had conducted Locomotor Disability Survey under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Village from 18th November 2021 to 18th December 2021 for the people living in the rural areas of Raigad District.
On the first day of the survey one faculty Dr. Ravi Baraela (P&O) with fourth year & internship students visited Dhami village by bus. The Students were accompanied by Medical Social workers (Department of Community Medicine, MGM Hospital), Medical Interns & Public Health Nurses
From the next day to end 10-12 students (3rd year & 4th Year) under the guidance of Dr. Ashlesha Tawde (Incharge of Rural Health Training Center) visited other villages
Students were divided into groups on arrival at the location, & interviewed the community members with the help of Predesign set of questionnaires. They also visited Aanganwadi & Primary school in that particular village to find out if any children need rehabilitation.
Students had covered 15 wadi between 18th November to 09th December 2021 and found total 51 Patients having disorder other than Locomotor disorder including speech, hearing, vision & noted their detailed information & referred them to MGM Rural Health Training Center (Nere)/MGM Hospital, Kamothe, Navi Mumbai for further treatment.

This year due to COVID situation, the World Health Day at MGM Institute’s University Department of Prosthetics & Orthotics was celebrated as NSS activity via online mode by organizing a health related Quiz Competition for students. Total 11 students and 2 faculties participated in this competition.
The team of students Miss Simranjeet Kaur, Tejas Pandit, Rafiq Rather won this competition. E certificates were distributed to the students. The students enjoyed this activity a lot.
E-certificates will be provided to the winners of the Quiz competition.

Summary:International Women's Day is observed to recognize Women’s achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political. It is celebrated to create awareness for respecting the Women in the society.
This year MGM Institute’s University Department of Prosthetics and Orthotics celebrated the International Women's Day by organizing a competition on the theme “Importance of Women in your life” in which all the male faculty and students performed story telling of their own life influenced by a woman, Poem written by them mentioning importance of a Woman, sang of song showing importance of Woman. Shayari performance mentioning importance of Women.
One best performance between faculty and three best performances among the students were given the prizes.

Kusumagraj, born on 27 February 1912, was an eminent Marathi poet, playwright, novelist, short story writer and humanist. In his writings, he wrote about freedom, justice and emancipation of the deprived.
The main objective of this day’s celebration is to eradicate the language barrier and to preserve the Mother Tongue.
This year on the occasion of this day, NSS unit of MGMIHS organized a Health Talk Competition in Marathi. The topic was ‘I Want to work in the Healthcare Field” for the students of all Constituent Units of MGMIHS. 4 students from MGM Institute’s University Department of Prosthetics and Orthotics participated in the competition. The winners were awarded with certificates and prizes.

Summary:A helmet is an absolute must for you if you are riding a two-wheeler, irrespective of whether you occupy the rider's place or passenger's seat. Needless to say, a two-wheeler owner should make it a point to carry a spare helmet with you at all times.
The aim was to create awareness among Two Wheeler Riders about Road Safety.
This activity was conducted on 20th February, 2021 by 10 Students and 05 Faculties of MGM Institute’s University Department of Prosthetics and Orthotics under NSS Unit of MGMIHS.
Each and every member on two wheelers, who were not wearing helmet was apprehended by the students and faculty. The member was counseled for not wearing helmet and explained the significance of wearing helmet to him/her.
Approximately 40 bike riders were counseled by conducting this activity. It was a small contribution from the Department of Prosthetics & Orthotics towards NSS Unit, MGMIHS in welfare of society.

Preamble: Polio, or poliomyelitis, is a crippling and potentially deadly disease. It is caused by the poliovirus. The virus spreads from person to person and can invade an infected person's brain and spinal cord, causing paralysis (can't move parts of the body). Polio can be prevented with vaccine.

Objective:To Immunize children in society under 05 years to eradicate Polio from the society.

Summary:The NSS Unit of MGM Institute’s University Department of Prosthetics and Orthotics actively participated in the Polio eradication camp from 31st January 2021 to 6th February 2021.
The theme for this year’s ‘National Polio Vaccination Day’ was “Polio eradication as well as current Covid-19 threat”. Approximately 1000 polio doses were given by the students each day. This campaign was conducted at specific centres as well as by home visits in different sectors of Kalamboli and Kamothe areas of Navi Mumbai.
The institute is proud to serve the society by means of immunizing the children below 5years under the NSS activity

Summary:The lecture was conducted by Mr. Subhasish Paikray for delivering an informative session to the B.P.O. students about “What is Covid-19”.
He also delivered following points about the Coronavirus:

3. Precautions to be taken by the common people to avoid Coronavirus.
4. Preventive measures to be taken by various governments and international health agencies to stop the spreading of the deadly virus in world.
The session was conducted with PowerPoint Presentation, which is informative for all students.

Proceedings of the event:Historical tourist spots play a major role in economy and nation building. It creates thousands of jobs directly and indirectly by which many people earn their livelihood. So far every nation at tourist spots are very important and as a citizen, everyone must maintain cleanliness and sanity of the tourist places, sometimes visitors try to spoil the place by throwing garbage and waste around the spot which can reduce the attractiveness of the place and can create pollution.
MGM Institute’s University Department of Prosthetics & Orthotics (MGMIUDPO) with motto of say “NO PLASTIC FOR BETTER TOMORROW” organized cleanliness program under NSS activity at Prabalgad & Prabalmachi site near Panvel, which is a very famous tourist spot in Maharashtra. The activity was conducted on 4th June 2022.
The activity was conducted in the presence of Dr. Uttara Deshmukh (P&O), Principal, MGMIUDPO and Dr. Subhasish Paikray (P&O), Assistant Professor, MGMIUDPO.
Early morning students gathered in campus and departed for the journey by bus. They reached the campsite and started with the cleanliness program by collecting various types of waste and gathering it in large garbage bags. After 2 hours of cleanliness journey, students reached Prabalmachi village. There, they divided themselves in groups and some students went to Prabalgad and carried out the campaign with full energy also some local people also joined the campaign.
The waste materials which were collected by students was properly disposed in big dustbins for further process. Lastly students were dispersed from the campsite with good memories and experience; also they learned to respect the nature so the future generation can live happily on beautiful mother Earth.

Purpose of the event:The main objective behind the celebration is to make a better future for the students by motivating them and spreading the ideas of the Swami Vivekananda.

Proceedings of the event:National Youth Day also known as ‘Rashtriya Yuva Diwas’ is celebrated on the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda on 12 January every year. The basic objective of National Youth Day is to bring the youth the together in an attempt to showcase their talents in various activities to cover almost all socio-cultural aspects of life. This year MGM Institute’s University Department of Prosthetics & Orthotics (MGMIUDPO) celebrated National Youth Day under NSS Unit by conducting competition of PPT Presentation by students on their Youth Icon. The program begun with warm welcome to the participants and attendees by Dr. Uttara Deshmukh (P&O), Principal, MGMIUDPO.
Each participant presented their Youth icon by giving a beautiful presentation. They were judged by three faculties from MGMIUDPO on the basis of Presentation, Content and Communication & Message. Faculties gave them scores accordingly. The event ended by felicitating the winners.
The first prize awarded to Mr. Krutik Jadhav and Runner Up prize was awarded to Mr. Divyanshu Ghundiyal.
The National Youth Day 2023 was celebrated with full enthusiasm and students enjoyed the event.

Purpose of the event:To raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and demonstrate international solidarity in the face of the pandemic.

Proceedings of the event:Every year on 1 December, the world commemorates World AIDS Day. People around the world unite to show support for people living with and affected by HIV and to remember those who lost their lives to AIDS. The inequalities which perpetuate the AIDS pandemic are not inevitable; we can tackle them. This year the NSS unit of MGM Institute's University Department of Prosthetics and Orthotics (MGMIUDPO) organized a quiz competition on the topic ‘AIDS’.
The program was started by a warm welcome to all participants, faculties and students by Ms. Hrida Ansari & Mr. Rohan Dekate, NSS Volunteers, MGMIUDPO.
The program proceeded with the quiz competition organized by MGMIUDPO. There were 3 teams and each team had about 6-7 members. Teams were named as A, B and C.
Questions were asked regarding the AIDS and each team was given one chance to answer. Points were given to the respective team who answered correct first.
At the end, Team A credited maximum score and were announced as winners. Students from MGMIUDPO enthusiastically participated and enjoyed this activity.
Overall the competition was extremely informative as well as interesting for all the participants

Purpose of the event:The aim of celebrating the day was to encourage students to follow the constitutional values in their lives and it reinforces civic values, educate students about their constitutional rights and promotes a deeper understanding of the democratic principles that guide the nation.

Proceedings of the event:Every year, Constitution Day also known as 'Samvidhan Divas', is celebrated in our country on 26th November every year to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India This year the NSS unit of MGM Institute's University Department of Prosthetics and Orthotics (MGMIUDPO) organized a lecture on topic ‘Constitution of India’. The event was held on 25th November 2023 aimed to outline the role and rights of citizens as well as defining the structure and powers of the government.
The event commenced with a warm welcome to speaker and participants by Dr. Subhasish Paikray (P&O), Assistant Professor, MGMIUDPO.
The event proceeded with insightful presentation by Ms. Vipashya, she threw light on history of Indian Constitution and let us know many facts related to our constitutions which was still unknown by many students.
Overall the event was extremely informative as well as interesting for all the participants

Purpose of the event:Raising awareness of the necessity of safe transfusion of blood and its components. Imparting knowledge regarding the importance of unpaid, voluntary blood donation. Motivating and encouraging students who are not interested in donating blood in spite of being a healthy person.

Proceedings of the event:On 12th May 2023, MGM Institute’s University Department of Prosthetics & Orthotics (MGMIUDPO) had organized Blood Donation Camp at Blood Bank, MGM Medical College & Hospital, Kamothe under NSS Unit of MGMIUDPO.
Blood is essential to help patients survive surgeries, cancer treatment, chronic illnesses, and traumatic injuries. Blood donation is one of the most significant contribution that a person can make towards the society. It is not harmful for an adult person to donate blood. The body of the donor can regenerate the blood within few days. It poses no threat to the metabolism of the body.
From MGMIUDPO, 10 students willingly went for donation but only 03 were eligible to donate their blood, rest had low haemoglobin and low weight. Moreover, one faculty from MGMIUDPO also donated.

Purpose of the event:To update the rural population regarding their current health status and provide medicinal support to the needy.

Proceedings of the event:A free medical health checkup camp for the rural population was organized on 15th April,2023 (Saturday) at Prathamic Arogya Kendra, Apte Village, Panvel. Camp was organized in association with Prathamic Arogya Kendra, Apte, Panvel.
A team of medical professionals from various departments of MGM Hospital Kamothe, Navi Mumbai together started from the campus in morning and reached the camp site around 10:00 am. A remarkable crowd responded to the initiative and reverted back for the checkup in various sections allotted for the particular department.
The honorable Nagar Sevak of Panvel graced the occasion with an inauguration ceremony followed by a speech and discussed about the deteriorating health conditions among the rural population with the panel of medical experts. He also showcased how the government is setting up various camps and their future plannings focusing on the upliftment of the rural population health conditions.
The event was then followed by free physical examination along with free Blood Sugar, Blood Pressure and ECG tests provided by the hospital with a considerable discount on other diagnostic tests in the hospital.
MGM Institute’s University Department of Prosthetics & Orthotics also had professionals who screened the Divyangjan who attended this camp. They were acknowledged regarding the facilities like the Disability Certificates, MJPJAY schemes and other various things that they can avail beneficially. Later these patients were given reference of the Department of Prosthetics and Orthotics, MGM Hospital, Kamothe for further procedures and follow ups and Measurements, fabrication/ repairing of the prostheses/orthoses.

Purpose of the event:To give exposure to the students for community services in village.

Proceedings of the event:Community level work can provide a healthy environment to everyone for boosting self-confidence, self-esteem, and life satisfaction. When anyone doing good for others in the community, which provides a natural sense of accomplishment. As a volunteer it can also give to a person a sense of pride and identity.
With this mission MGM Institute’s University Department of Prosthetics & Orthotics (MGMIUDPO), Kamothe Navi Mumbai had organized a three days residential camp at Shantivan, Nere in association with MGM School of Physiotherapy (MGMSOP), Kamothe, Navi Mumbai in which 5 students and 1 faculty from MGMIUDPO and 17 students and 2 faculties from MGMSOP had joined the camp.
The NSS Special Residential Camp at Shantivan, Nere was organized to promote the spirit of volunteerism, social responsibility, and community development among the students. The camp was held from 10th to 12th April 2023 and had a series of activities aimed at empowering students with knowledge and skills.
The NSS Special Residential Camp at Shantivan, Nere was a great success in terms of achieving its objectives. The students of MGMIUDPO gained knowledge and skills in various fields and also developed a sense of responsibility towards the environment and society. They shared their ideas with each other by interacting with village people and made new friends. Such camps provide an excellent opportunity for students to learn beyond the classroom and contribute to the community.
The NSS Special Residential Camp at Shantivan, Nere was organized to promote the spirit of volunteerism, social responsibility, and community development among the students. This was a fabulous experience for all.

Proceedings of the event:The event was organized as NSS Activity, under NSS Unit of MGMIUDPO, Kamothe, Navi Mumbai. The event was started by warm welcome of all students and faculty by Mr. Shivam Pandey, Internship Student of MGMIUDPO. A small speech about the importance of the day was given by him, in which he mentioned about the role of women in formation of healthy society.
The event was processed with a playing of video which was made by boys students in which they shows role of women which include staff and students to take the department to well-known position in this area by their hard efforts. Later boy students shared their experience with all, in which they explained how women in their life are contributing in various ways with various roles of mother, sister, friend for their holistic development in various ways.
TLastly Dr. Uttara Deshmukh, HOD of MGMIUDPO in her speech explained the importance of the event to all and also said that now also in various aspects women going through various types of trauma and violence by society, then all students and faculty take oath that everyone must speak against violence of women in the society.
The event was ended by cake cutting specially brought for Women’s Day by all female staff and students in the institute and lastly sharing of Rose flowers was done by boy students to all female staff and students for a gift of token in which they express their gratitude to all women of the department.

Proceedings of the event:MGM Institute’s University Department of Prosthetics and Orthotics (MGMIUDPO) had taken the initiative of organizing an event on World Human Rights Day with students under NSS Unit of MGMIUDPO.
Every year on 10 December, the world celebrates Human Rights Day, the very day when, in 1948, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). The theme for the International Human Rights Day 2022 has been set as 'Dignity, Freedom, and Justice for All'. Human rights include the right to life and liberty, freedom from slavery and torture, freedom of opinion and expression, the right to work and education, and many more. Everyone is entitled to these rights, without discrimination.
The program was started by a warm welcome to all students and faculties by Ms. Pranaya More, NSS Volunteer, MGMIUDPO. First year BPO students took an initiative to make this event a memorable one. Students prepared posters and gave brief information about the human rights. This event helped other students to know more about the human rights.

Purpose of the event:To mark the significance of the constitutional values among the students and also, to bring awareness of the importance of the Indian Constitution.

She invited Ms. Sakshi Thakkar (IV Year BPO) for delivering a speech on significance of Constitution Day. Also Mr. Sachin Kawankar (IV Year BPO) gave brief information about Indian Constitution.
The program proceeded with the quiz competition organized by MGMIUDPO. There were 3 teams and each team had about 6-7 members. Teams were named as A, B and C.
Questions were asked regarding the Indian Constitution and each team had a chance to answer. Points were given to the respective team who first gave the correct answer.
At the end, Team B was announced as winners for answer maximum correct answers. The winners were awarded with e-certificates. Students from MGMIUDPO enthusiastically participated and enjoyed this activity.

Proceedings of the event:MGM Institute of Health Sciences celebrated the 75th Independence Day with full joy and happiness with the presence of all members of the great Institute.
The function started with the Prabhat pheri from MGM University Building to MGM Sports Ground, at the MGM Sports Ground tree plantation activity was conducts under NSS Unit MGMIHS, where all the NSS Volunteers and faculty planted the saplings around the ground.
The program proceeded for Flag Hosting, and was continued with a small inaugural speech by Hon’ble Chancellor, Dr. Kamal Kishor Kadam. He gave tribute to all the freedom fighters who sacrificed their ultimate life for independence of this nation.
Further, distribution of artificial limbs, supporting devices & mobility aids by Hon’ble Chancellor sir, which was arranged by the Department of Prosthetics & Orthotics, MGMIHS in association with Department of Community Medicine, MGM Medical College, where three Divyangjans from adopted villages by MGMIHS under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan were benefited.
The program was continued with cultural activities by all constituent units under MGMIHS with the theme “Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav”. Students from MGMIUDPO performed skit on “Tribute to Indian Army” which was praised by everyone. All the participants from various institutes gave outstanding performance. The program ended with National Anthem and refreshments were distributed to all the students and staff members of MGMIHS.

Purpose of the event:To celebrate International Yoga Day by spreading awareness about the importance and effects of yoga on the health.

Proceedings of the event:International Yoga Day is observed on June 21 across the globe every year, to spread awareness about the invaluable benefits of Yoga. Practicing yoga might seem like just stretching, but it can do much more for human body than the way it feel, look and move. It even helps to increase flexibility, muscle strength and body tone. It improves respiration, energy and vitality.
This year MGM Institute’s University Department of Prosthetics & Orthotics (MGMIUDPO) celebrated International Yoga Day under NSS Unit by conducting a Yoga competition among students.
The program begun with warm welcome to the participants and attendees by Dr. Uttara Deshmukh (P&O), Principal, MGMIUDPO. She delivered an informative speech about the significance of Suryanamaskar in day to day life by performing the same. This encouraged the students as an ignition.
The event proceeded with the Suryanamaskar performance by Dr. Subhasish Paikray (P&O), Assistance Professor, MGMIUDPO. Faculties took the lead to conduct the competition.
