Our Classrooms..
In order to provide proper learning environment to our students MGM Institute’s University Department of Prosthetics & Orthotics has well equipped dedicated class rooms for seating capacity of 30 students per classroom, with two classrooms for the institute. The classroom walls are so designed to prevent sound intrusion from adjacent spaces.
The classrooms are well ventilated, furnished and equipped with celling mounted fixed overhead LCD projectors, white boards which also act as the white screen for the projectors, sufficient teaching space for the professors, spacious seating arrangement for the students.
The classroom corridors have mounted bulletin boards which are updated with the latest announcements and are decorated with all the outcomes of the extra-curricular activities in which the students actively contribute to showcase their talent. The boards also feature awareness posters and slogans which relate to various aspects of a student’s life.
The corridors also are the home to the students’ locker facilities which provide a safe haven for their belongings to be placed in the institute itself. They can easily retrieve their belongings anytime they feel the need to do so.
Modern Laboratories..
MGM Institute’s University Department of Prosthetics & Orthotics has advanced Prosthetics and Orthotics Labs. Each individual lab has an area of approximately 1500 sq ft, big enough to accommodate a batch of 30 students easily at a time. Both the labs are well ventilated and are equipped with powerful air-conditioners to ensure that the temperature of the room remains pleasant in all weather conditions.
Albeit being situated in the basement, the institute has ensured complete safety against any mishap which may arise in the lab. There are water sprinklers present at adequate distances in the labs and the rooms are equipped with fire extinguishers to battle against fire accidents.
The Prosthetics Lab has an examination couch for the patients’ seating, a separate casting area for casting and measurement purposes, parallel bars along with mirrors for the gait training, spacious working tables to serve as the workspace for the students, appropriate tools, gears and equipments to work with and a storage space for maintaining all the processed materials and final products properly at one place.
The Orthotic Lab also is more or less similar to the Prosthetic Lab, with two modern sewing machines, a separate storage space to contain the students’ submissions on various assignments, an advanced ORFIT oven to cater to a patient with short-notice requirements
The P&O Labs are also associated with the Machine Room, which contains all the hardware and machinery required to produce appropriate Prosthetic and Orthotic Product, such as the drilling machine, the suction machine for suction moulding, the Prosthetic oven, router along with the its suction machine, multipurpose grinder-sander and the smaller machines like the hand-drilling machine, the heat gun etc.
Library
MGM Institute’s University Department of Prosthetics and Orthotics, being a proper subset of the MGM Institute of Health sciences, utilizes the Central Library provided to all the departments and institutes under MGMIHS. The Library has a dedicated section for MGMIUDPO which contains more than 50 kinds of books present in the fields of Prosthetics & Orthotics. The library not only contains various reference books, but also features international journals subscribed by the institute, available for issue to the students and faculty.
The library is well-equipped to support and facilitate teaching, learning and research programmes of the Institute. Well stocked with the latest books and research publications, the library is accessible to all students, faculty members and employees. The library is of 1870 square meter area which has five Reading Rooms where more than 500 users can sit at time and consult their reading materials.
The institute also provides an e-Library facility wherein the students can access all the literature posted online by the institute, anytime, anywhere. Here, we promote research ideas and encourage the students to review the current literature and explore various sources of information available in the field of study.
Canteen Facility
The members of MGMIUDPO can avail the canteen facility present in MGMIHS. The canteen is a huge cafeteria present on the ground floor. It is a dedicated building solely for the purpose of serving and eating food. It offers healthy & cost effective food.
The canteen lays high emphasis following food safety protocols and compliance with all statutory norms. It also has a provision for seating area for patients, their relatives at hospital and the student body too. The menu that is served at the canteen is in accordance to the customers’ taste and in their nutrition’s best interest. The rates are very reasonable.
The canteen serves both the vegetarian and the non-vegetarian population, taking care to maintain strict bifurcation in both the sections and ensuring that neither material mixes with the other. Mess facility is also available for the students staying at the hostel.
Hostel Facilities
MGM Institute's University Department of Prosthetics and Orthotics, Navi Mumbai utilizes Hostel facilities provided by MGM Institute of Health Sciences. Separate hostels facilities are provided for undergraduates and postgraduates. Hostels are separated into blocks for girls and boys within the same campus. Rooms are available on twin sharing basis only with attached bathrooms.

Sports Facility
Sports play a vital role in shaping one’s personality and maintaining good health. MGM Institute of Health Sciences, Navi Mumbai has specially developed a sports environment that matches international standards and gives a truly global experience to all our students. A sports ground surrounded by the hostels, is accessible at any hour of the day. Multiple sport facilities to keep students engaged and physically fit, such as Basketball court, Badminton Court, Cricket pitch, Football and a walk way along the circumference of the ground can be used for jogging/walking. Gym facility is also available to the students which is accessible at any hour of the day.
