Name of the event: CRE on “MYO-ELECTRIC INDY PROSTHESIS”

Purpose of the event:

To educate Prosthetists,Orthotists and Students aboutfitting of Advanced Myoelectric Prosthesis”.
To demonstrate the Practical knowledge of fitment of Myoelectric Prosthesis over patient.

Location of the event: Seminar hall, MGM Hospital,Academic Building, MGMIUDPO, Kamothe,Navi Mumbai.

Date and time of the event: Date: October 28^th & 29^th 2021
Time: 9:00 am to 5:00pm.

No.of attendees: 26 dignitaries & 45 students of MGMIUDPO and various institutes.

PROCEEDINGS OF THE EVENT:

The students and theprofessionals were benefited by all the following topics in the CRE-

Trans-radial amputation & Orthopaedic intervention (Common cause of Amputation in India and Cases of Amputation in India. by- Dr. Anil Khandekar & Dr. Manisha Shabharkar
Demonstration of Casting, Pouring, Modification & Molding of check socket & fabrication of inner & outer socket and assembly of Prosthetic kit & trial over patient & training by Mr. Oleg, Head Prosththetist, Motorica Moscow.
Traditional sockets & technology fitting in Trans-radial Prosthesis by Dr.Uttara Deshmukh.
Evidence based Practice in advanced Technology of Trans-radial Prosthesis.by Dr. Pankaj Sinha.
Alternatives for Myo Electrical –different advanced solutions offered at Moscow, CYBI, Manifesto by Mr.Evgeny, Mr Vasily, Mr.Nabil of Motorica Moscow.
Mr. Mahendra Pitale, Brand ambassador of Motorica India shared his experience Post Amputation Journey with all dignitaries.

Overall the Experience of C.R.E is Excellent for all delegates & Students in Two Days.

Name of the event: “Need based product design”

Purpose of the event: To get the research exposure in the field of Prosthetics and Orthotics

Location of the event: University Auditorium, III Floor, MGMIHS, Kamothe, Navi Mumbai

Date and time of the event: Date: January 06^th, 2020
Time: 11:00 am to 3:30 pm.

No.of attendees: 7 Faculties and 131 Students.

PROCEEDINGS OF THE EVENT:

The program started with the welcome address given by Dr. Raman P. Yadav, Convener, Institution’s Innovation council (IIC), MGM Institute of Health Sciences (MGMIHS) and Dr. Uttara Deshmukh (P&O), Head of the Department, MGM Institute’s University Department of Prosthetics and Orthotics (MGMIUDPO), Kamothe, Navi Mumbai followed by Lamp lightening by the dignitaries of MGMIHS, Navi Mumbai. Further, address note given by Honourable Vice Chancellor, MGMIHS, President of IIC, Navi Mumbai.

The program was continued with the motivational speeches on the theme “Need Based Product Design” -

Dr. Urmila Naukudkar, Faculty, All India Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Mahalaxmi, Mumbai delivered the lecture on Prostheses as a product development needed for Congenital Anamolies and Rotation Plasty patients. She discussed in detail about the need behind the Customized Prosthetic development of Congenital Anamolies on two cases and Prosthetic management of Rotation Plasty surgery (Ghost Surgery) on one case.
Dr. Pankaj Sinha, Director and Propritor, Sai Prosthetics and Orthotics Research Centre delivered the speech on Ossiointegration and Prosthetic management for the same and case fitted at his centre. He also thrown light on the Nation wise demand of Prosthetist and Orthotist as per WHO Census.
r. Akshay Zodge, Director and Propritor, Perfect Prosthetics and Orthotics Care delivered the lecture on Paediatric Orthoses and Podiatry. He also elaborated technology behind Paediatric hip orthosis fitted for Internal Rotatory deformities.
Rafiq Ahmad, IV BPO student, MGMIUDPO, Kamothe, Navi Mumbai on Articulated AFO with dorsiflexion assist. He discussed about the need behind the modification. The modification was the use of helical springs, which is available in local market with very low cost.

Atlast concluding remarks were given by Dr. Deepshikha Raut (P&O), Assistant Professor, MGMIUDPO, Kamothe, Navi Mumbai

The event was successfully completed as the students gained knowledge about “Need based Product design” i.e. According to the patients need the Prosthetist/Orthotist has to modify the Prosthetic/Orthotic treatment.

Name of the event: Hands on CRE on “Advances in Prosthetic Knee joints”

Purpose of the event:

To educate Prosthetists, Orthotists and Students about fitting of Advanced Prosthetic Knee Joints in Transfemoral Amputees.
To demonstrate the Practical knowledge of Elan Foot and Microprocessor controlled Ankle assembly.
To demonstrate the Practical knowledge of Orion and Linx systems, which are advanced and Microprocessor controlled Knee assemblies.

Time: 9:00 am to 5:00pm.

No.of attendees: 33 Professionals and 43 Students

The Students and the Professionals were benefited by all the following topics of the CRE :-

Advancements in Prosthetic Feet by- Dr. Abhinav Tripathi (P&O), Clinical Manager, Endolite India Pvt, Ltd.
Emphasis on Orion & Linx advanced Knee joint system by Dr. Bruce.
Practical Demonstration of Advanced foot systems on Patient by - Dr. Deepali Kant (P&O), Regional Manager, Endolite India Pvt. Ltd. Mumbai.
Biomechanics of Transfemoral Prosthesis by Dr. Ashok Indalkar (P&O) (H.O.D. , AIIPMR)
Evidence Based Case study : B/L Transfemoral Amputee by - Dr. Akshay Zodge (P&O)

An Educational talk by Dr. Bruce upgraded knowledge of participants by introducing advanced Orion and Lynx systems.
The Lecture by Dr. A.G. Indalkar imparted a lot by clearance of basic fundamentals of biomechanics and the Case study by Dr. Akshay Zodage educated practical aspects of fitting of Bilateral Transfemoral prostheses.

Overall the students and faculties of MGMIUDPO were benefitted by the CRE.

Name of the event: Hands on CRE on ‘Integrated Care of Diabetic Foot’

Purpose of the event: To educate the Professionals & Students about the advanced techniques in Diabetic Foot assessment.

Location of the event: Seminar Hall , 2^nd Floor, MGM Hospital, Sector -1, Kamothe , Navi Mumbai – 410209.

Date and time of the event: 15^th & 16^th March, 2019 9Am to 5PM.

No.of attendees: 20 Professionals and 35 Students

PRODEDINGS OF THE EVENT:

MGM Department of Prosthetics and Orthotics has conducted a National level, hands on C.R.E. on 'Integrated Care of Diabetic Foot' to upgrade the knowledge of professionals. The delegates had participated from various states like Maharashtra, Gujrat, Delhi and Odisha.

The Inauguration and Lamp Lightening Ceremony was done by Honorable Chief Guest Dr. Shashank D. Dalvi, Vice Chancellor of MGM Institute of Health Sciences, Dr. Anjali Sabnis, H.O.D. Anatomy, Dr. Suman Kumar Panda, Founding Member & Chairman of Indian Pedorthic Association and Dr. Swagatika Mishra, H.O.D., Prosthetics & Orthotics Department. The ceremony was followed by an inspiring speech by Honorable Chief Guest Dr. Shashank D. Dalvi.

The delegates were imparted knowledge in the areas of basic Anatomy, Pathomechanics, Radiographic features, Biomechanics and Various types of Orthotic Managements exclusively required for the Diabetic conditions.

A 3-minute basic monofilament test was taught, which can be done on a regular basis in the Pedorthic OPD. The single monofilament costs only Rs. 20/- and can be utilized 100 times.

An expert faculty from BARC Surgery Dept. Dr. S. Mishra, demonstrated the wound debridement on a Callus condition on a diabetic patient.

Gait Analysis part was taken by Dr. Rajani Mullerpatan

Dr. Suman explained and demonstrated Harris Mat Technique, which is quite easy & low cost & portable for camp activities.

The CRE was beneficial in overall aspects to all students and dignitaries.
